If your are a beginner and/or on a budget then this is the place for you.

One of the largest ski areas in Austria the Skiwelt area lift pass offers value for money. The resorts of Soll, Brixenthal, Westerndorf are all linked here. The only downside for Ellmau is that you will find that you need to hop on a bus every morning to take you to the main funicular mountain rail train that whizzs you to the top of the main slopes. However the buses run every 10 minutes so you will not be waiting around too long. This is probably the case for the other resorts of Soll etc as well. 

The lifts are mainly chairlifts which is also good for beginners especially snowboarders. There are a few places to go for Apres in the afternoon and evenings. Bar 66 and Tapas bar are lively and busy and there is also a nightclub beneath Bar 66.
